Strap yourselves in !!!!.....
7.30am its still misty in the Vale of York but a dry day is forcast for my150 mile drive over some of my favourite roads over the Yorkshire Moors ,onto Whitby and then down the Yorkshire coast calling at Robin Hoods Bay and Filey.
Tank is full of 99 ron fuel, the roof is down and the ambient temperature is 2 c.
Insulated suit on and sheepskin lined leather helmet secured...its time to press the start button and go.
I drive on a short stretch of the York ringroad and feel sorry for the commuters heading for the city.I get a few waves and smiles and a few curious looks as in what is that silly old bugger doing with the roof down in this weather!!!
The MZR engine warms up quickly, the heater is on and I am soon on the twisty cross country B roads.
With the roof down I'm more aware of the induction roar and a sound in between gears not unlike the hiss of a dump valve beloved of the modified hatchback brigade...I like it!!!.
Once again the capability of the +4 SS surprises me.. overtaking
is effortless and safe...it tackles the hills in a gear higher than expected and handles the twisty bits in a surefooted manner.
We're beginning to trust each other...Iam not going to hurt it and hopefully it is not going to hurt me !!!
I tried to fit the tonneau today but it didn't want to play..too cold..I will take it indoors to warm it up and try again.
Another good day...I'm so lucky !!!!
