Watched it last night. It fits into the bracket of entertainment for a certain group/age/demographic. As 3exp3cted really as no car show will appeal to all.
I am watching some of the other progs like Fantomworks/Fast&Loud/Car SOS/Wheeler Dealers plus the odd extra I find in the Quest/History/Yesterday type channels. Usually recorded to watch /skip/delete as appropriate.

Watched the first one of the new series tonight.
Far too much red dust and nothing much about the cars. And really nothing else.
My advice - don't bother. I tend to agree having watched it too. I also feel the Grand Tour has matured well in series 2.

The TG Extra was better, I loved John Hennessey saying the 550 bhp Mustang needed balls so that added another 300 bhp!

I watched the TG Extra. It added very little for me. At one point Sabines makeup was a little off and really quite odd. I downloaded Series 2 to see if it was any better and got zero. So sad. I grew up on TG.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

A colleague of mine went to the recording last Thursday which will be programme 5 when shown. She also went twice to previous trio's recording and says it is way different now. Like or loathe the other three, seems they went out of their way to engage with the studio audience between takes, having genuine pots at each other with the audience acting as support, she says it was great fun and they obviosuly got on well together. Last Thursday however they were kept waiitng three hours before filming started and between takes the new trio disappear, very little genuine engagement, lots of scripts and re takes and it seems Rory is a bit of a loner.

That's an interesting observation - there is nothing like being there to pick up on the vibe. This series does still seem as if they are still courting whereas the old trio seemed as if they were enjoying the comfort of their golden wedding anniversary  ..
