I heard that MMC did trial aluminium mudguards at the beginning but had too many failures, stress cracking of the material.

Yeah - the problem was the aluminium not the design [sarcasm off]

It's not as if anyone has had to weld up the standard mudguards...well, it's been at leaast a month simce I got one of mine done!

Think I prefer the geometry of the Empire/KH kit. The wishbone mounts have the full width of originals and the geometry is easier on the eye

If the results is good
The purpose is to FIND A better mood of ride.
Mine seems to be easier to drive with these wishbones and Mtw Could turn with less place.

Im sure it all comes back to money. To make the M3W lighter would have cost more money. Ultimately Morgan would push onto the customer causing the base price to have been higher, which would have hurt sales.

What would be interesting however, is if they made a secondary model SS Ultralight M3W. Kevlar enforced carbon fiber on numerous body panels would go a long way.

I will have a very good look at Raphy's car next month (and maybe a ride in it as well). I will then decide if that is going to be my next mod (either Biarritz or Empire from KH). The road edges around where I live in France are often very rough and broken up due to over-sized trucks, fully laden with quarry ballast travelling at absurd speeds on the narrow roads and tree root encroachment. I will wait to see how the steering comfort kit has improved matters before I decide. Changing from the Avon sidecar tyres to Excelsior Comp H tyres made a big difference to how straight the car tracked after hitting a bump and how far it was thrown off line. They changed the car from plain dangerous to just uncomfortable.

Is this something that that your garage came up with?
What was the cost?

How does it drive compared to the old wishbones.

For alloy mudguards, I wonder if the easiest way would be to purchase a 5" x 19" motorcycle mudguard like this https://www.britishbikebits.com/alloy-universal-rear-mudguard-5-wide-c-section#.WqqAIi90fy9 and then get someone to TIG weld on the flat mounting plate plus a couple of bracing alloy strips up the flat plate and onto the inside of the guards. Easier and cheaper than having fully custom made ones.
