Instinctively I distrust anything that looks at all like "snake oil". Most of the time this has saved me from disappointment and a waste of money. Occasionally it means that I have missed something worthwhile. Somehow this gadget, like all the other fuel saving gadgets, strikes me as "snake oil" but I will wait with interest to see MMC installing it on all their production..

Not so much the fuel saving Howard as the reduced emissions - at least as far as the 90 goes smile

Yep, the physics and engineering appear to be sound, the price seems fair. I'll have a chat with my local Landy specialist to see what he thinks.

I'd be interested in his opinion Tim. haven't spoken to mine yet.

In the unlikely event HMRC reduced road tax for fitting this I would get one for the Roadster.

At 5k miles p.a. the payback is too long for 1.5 to 3 mpg increase in fuel consumption as that is only £50-100 p.a.
But if they can get the 30% plus then it seems worthwhile. I have asked them what they can deliver on an ST220 engine.

Might be good for emissions but the mpg claim is hard to believe. As I understand it (happy to be proved wrong):
It uses alot of electricity to get the hydrogen ......that electricity has to come from the petrol engine. Looked at from kj perspective, there's a loss on each conversion. There's no "spare" electricity in a car with an alternator. A current drawn draws power directly from the available hp of the engine. There's a loss involved which the overall system sees. So hard to believe increased mpg. It would be nice to see some evidence.....which would seem to need to break the laws of physics as we understand them today.
Might be brilliant for cleaning up emissions though.

Nick,
I can see the hydrogen effectively upping the RON value of the fuel but I agree Newton's Laws apply here so I will be intrigued if they come up with a high fuel consumption reduction for my car.

Maybe they also generate O2 and the catalyst means the energy needed is not so high.

The thing is that in a submarine the process is used to make oxygen.... there's no suggestion of efficiency of any kind.

It is interesting, as a concept.
BUT the "evidence" provided by the maker is tenuous, at best.
The ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) has already told the makers to pull a couple of advertisements.
Details HERE
There are a number of threads over on Piston Heads...no one seems really convinced.

From the description the thing works by the electrolysis of potassium hydroxide. I assume that the KOH solution has to be replaced periodically. Nasty stuff and NOT something that you want anywhere aluminium....

There is some good evidence that adding Hydrogen to hydrocarbon combustion does reduce pollution and Carbon Dioxide: there have been proposals that 5% Hydrogen should be added to natural gas.

It will be very interesting to see how MMC get on with their trials.
