I have a K&N air filter I purchased from Wolf performance. I don’t know any performance figures but it certainly made a big difference to my 4/4, especially with the remap, they work well together !

You both confirmed my observation. Producing no figures but say it made a performance difference.

It may not make any difference on the test bench. But the enjoyment of the somewhat different sound, the subjectively more willing acceleration and the more spontaneous response contribute to a beautiful experience. This can be more beautiful than it can be measured.

Heinz

I agree with the different sound, the exhaust plays a different note, more of a sportier raspy sound, this must be the remap ?

I have no figures to prove the sound difference 😂

Thank you once again everyone with all your input it has convinced me that both exhaust and air filter needs changing but I have to be honest the jury is still out on the oil filter as to which one to choose. More information is needed to pick the best oil filter for my car.

Ref oil filter. Simply type K&N oil filters into Google. The K&N filters link will appear. It will not list your Morgan but look for a car with your engine; Ford? That will be the one.

In Gragam Bell’s book on engine tuning he did tests on various filters/ airbox mods etc. His tests on bhp/torque for a simple straight swop to K&N show very little, if any, improvement. Perhaps only 1-2 bhp at higher revs. He did see airflow improvements but power gains were marginal if any. The tests were on a normally aspirated 4cyl smallish engine if I remember correctly.
One useful test series he described was mearuing flow in the ahole intake system to identify choke points/ flow restrictors, which helped in repositioning the flow meter. I will have to read it again to get details. He used manometers to measure it I think.
I like his testing processes as he uses mule engines/ strips down to check/etc with before and after results. Better than the off 5e cuff impressionistic/ marketing comments usually seen.
