what I am trying to ask is why most of used cars are showing up on dealer website without ever being advertised on the likes of pistonhead/autotrader (or here for that matter)? surely the dealer take a nice commission on the resale.

Many Morgan owners I know don't use the Web for Morgan matters, they continue to conduct business and communication in a traditional way. Maybe that's why they are Morgan owners, however you may be right, money could be saved by cutting out the middle man

But I doubt it would be a great deal. Dealer prices will be higher - they usually offer warranties and other incentives. Probably better to look at the classic car sales sites Ludo e.g. www.carandclassic.co.uk rather than the more run of the mill used car sites. It also pays to carefully choose the dealer selling your car Cheers,

comfort of someone-else doing the job of selling the car in my case: my car will 9/10 go to France, and our Belgian dealer has a habit of selling to the French

only early aero 8 do not have certficate of conformity, all the other have making the process of registering the car very simple: ask for the CoC to MMC get the tax form in france get to the MOT or equivalent (contrôle technique) and you're done. if you need help I can provide @ Graham: as for carand classic it's in the favorites too. as a buyer from abroad guarantee means little to me, admittedly I will be a minority here, so I am more inclined in trying to buy direct from owner

As above, I believe many people go the dealer route to avoid time-wasters, tyre kickers and the general hassle of selling a car. However, http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/ and http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/ are both good for Morgan sports car sales (many of them private).

As above, I believe many people go the dealer route to avoid time-wasters, tyre kickers and the general hassle of selling a car. One of the reasons Tink was sold by New Elms on my behalf - Tim did always say, when you are thinking of selling, do call me I periodically look at those two sites to see how Mog prices are going... For me It is hassle factor. I can sell the car more quickly and easily via a dealer. I don't have the pain of test pilots and arranging viewings or ensuring payment. I think a lot of Aero owners value the service our dealers provide in this respect.
