This was posted by a Portuguese acquaintance purportedly a Brazillian speed trap operative, there is a certain irony in the concealment I feel  .

In the hills outside Melbourne they set up the same way, Camo netting, camo attire.
Tells you all you need to know about speed cameras in Australia, nothing to do with safety at all , in fact the state governments rely on and budget for revenue from cameras. Victoria is possibly the worst of all the states they book you for doing 2k over the limit, but design rules allow a 10% error either way on the speedo fitted your car. You are also fined for warning other motorists that there is a speed trap ahead .

Uther I commiserate with you if your government is cynical enough to sneakily try you catch you out? Perhaps you need to start a No Speed Traps political party. I think you will find that speedos are designed to over read upto 10% but cannot under read. I had a Chrysler which was accurate throughout its range compared to GPS on a sat nav. Changing tyres could make a small change.

Sorry to hear that Uther I assumed yours would be highlighted like ours with dayglow as a warning, that is pure evil and as you say a revenue earner and no mistake.

Not sure what's wrong with the "revenue earner" bit. After all we pay far more than traffic fines in income tax. And in a way I would rather government revenue came fro law breakers than hard workers. Maybe that a thought - confiscate all assets from criminals like burglars and de criminalise speeding?

Well as long as they own up to it I'm fine (no pun intended) with it but to dress it up as road safety is a bit irksome.
I totally agree with divesting all criminals of their ill gotten gains, it will be interesting following up on the Hatton Garden heist.
Last time I read something on it they had recovered £4M of the £29M so a long way to go yet.

The Proceeds of Crime Acts is already fairly enthusiastically pursued.

Which is probably why most of the dealers we catch usually have around £850 in their pocket.
