So having managed to tear the rear seam with the luggage loaded M3W on a deep kerb on Sunday (again 😱) - Here we are only on Tuesday and the TIG welding & dressing is all done, leaving just paint to do. I thought I'd share some photos including lifting the car, the clamp used to hold the seam & the reinforcing plate fabricated & fitted under the rear wooden chassis to help protect the fragile seam.

The pallet truck works well and the clamp looks like a Carver clamp to me.

The welder is Malcolm at Speedweld in Farley Hill south of Reading and he's a true professional engineer be it the workshops are on a farm so you're driving through some quality cow shi£ to get there.

He's aero qualified and oozes experience.

Hopefully the skid plate will solve the problem for the future.
