I did this more than once with the Roadster.

On the Plus 8 I'be forgotten the release the fasteners more than once. So far without damage.
Looking further it seems the pin on the body is aligned exactly with the hood pivot point, so the faster just pivots round the pin.

Could someone look at their +4 or Roadster and see how the pin matches up with the hood pivot point? The only photo i have from Aldermog suggests that the Tenax pin is below the hood pivot point, which is why the pin can be sheared off.
