On Sunday I shall be doing something I said I would never do. I have towed caravans with cars many times in the past. I now own a motorhome and have always said that I would never tow a car with a caravan.
However...I have decided to make an exception this year and I shall be taking my beloved Esmeralda ('61 +4) to Cumbria on a trailer behind Matilda (motorhome) for a couple of weeks. First week at Ravenglass, second week at Keswick. Wife has booked a steam train ride (Ravenglass) and theatre tickets (Keswick).
Lake District in a Morgan has to be a little bit like heaven. I am really looking forward to it.

One of our favourite places have lots of fun and I wish you good weather . There is something about the place just makes you feel so damned patriotic I think you have your brave head on towing all that way. We are thinking of flying up to Newcastle from Exeter next time, that M5/6 is a pain.

Have a great holiday Nev & Enjoy your ride on L'al Ratty - Sue and I used to love riding the narrow gauge (even the hound, not known for being happy with strange noises, enjoyed the fresh air travels, and ice cream at the other end ). We loved the Lake District and there is still much undiscovered even after numerous trips.

I know what you mean about M5/6 Rich, had a few days in Malvern area a couple of weeks ago in the motorhome (from Lincolnshire). Daughter bought wife and I a tour of the holy shrine at Pickersleigh Rd. Excellent day.
I followed the advice of my satnav, BIG MISTAKE. Satan must have had a hand in the invention of motorways.
Return journey was done the old fashioned way, mostly A46. Much more civilised.

It's so much nicer if you can find an A road that doesn't take you too far out the way. That was a nice treat the factory visit your Daughter knows you both well.

Towing behind motorhome is apiece of cake. I tow a Dodge truck 4 down. In 2016 we round tripped from Virginia to Alaska for 16500 miles towing and 6500 miles in the Dodge.I just have to be careful not to get in a situation where I need to reverse.
Towing the +8 is a work in process, maybe next year I'll get it hooked up.

Thanks for your comments George, towing in itself holds no fears for me. Good navigation is the key. SWMBO bless her has many talents but navigation is not on the list and neither is driving.
Many of our favourite places in the UK have 'A' roads which are just single track roads with passing places.

A Taffmog member trailers his Mog a lot. He has a good sized camper and has no qualms about it.. he gets to his destination and used the Mog to drive round. All it takes is good route planning to avoid small, twisty, narrow roads and tight humpback bridges.

For me the perfect Morgan road is the Corney Fell road which goes over the back of Black Combe - just South of Ravenglass. It is a great drive on a fine evening with the best view in Britain - you can see Wales, Scotland, Isle of Man and Ireland not to mention a great chunk of England. If you get up there to see the sunset over the Isle of Man it is a sight to remember.Descend into Dunnerdale - then Right for a trip back along the coast or Left for the thrills of Wrynose and Hardknott Passes. Incidentally - if you can see the top of Black combe the weather should be fine.- but if you can see the Isle of Man from the coast it is going to rain (if you can`t see it it`s raining already!) Give a wave to Black Combe for me - my Dad is up on top of it. Enjoy - especially L`al Ratty.
