Ditto for car shampoo. I have also machine polished the drivers side with fine polish once to clean up slight scratches/wear marks, I used Autifinessefinishing polish. Deep scratches are still there.
It is possible to tidy up rough edges....the method is to use a blowtorch to melt it! Great care needed though. I tried it on some scrap and it works but you need to be alert and careful with slow heating and keeping the flame moving. Similar to working with glass but more heat sensitive. You could also soften edges with solvents....if you can get them.
