I have a question. I would like to clean down my Morgan, the whole chassis and weelbase plus suspension and springs. What is the best way? I then would like to vaxoil and grease it up again nicely.

What would you recomend I do??

Without stripping down this will be hard work. Don't use water or a pressure washer at this time of year because it won't dry easily. Try a solvent like white spirit with a strong rag (well ventilated area) and thick gloves. Do small sections at a time, Access to the rear springs is difficult without a ramp.

You dont say what year your Mog is and therefore how much muck is likely to be under there. Dave W certainly has lots of experience of these things.
I am not sure what care you need to take with the wooden parts if the car is earlier than the 'wood pre-treating' years?

Has anyone used 'Steam Cleaning' to clean the underside 'Nooks & Crannies' or is that just too severe for a Morgan?

Also I read somewhere here its recommended to use Aerosol Motorcycle Grease for Greasing the Leaf Springs?

My Morgan is a 1991 so the wood should be dipped. It's just that it's a lot of grease and waxoyl under there and it looks fine. I can see some rust in the corners so I want to clean it out.

I will try with degreaser and white spirit in one area to see if it's just a little or more.

I am going to clean the underside of mine over the winter. The wood is great - problem is the suspension etc are covered with too much oil and grease. I think previous owner overdid the one shot oiler and the greasing done at service was adding more grease to that already there!
The brakes are not affected though - just suspension.
I did wipe some grease off a few weeks ago but would like to clean things gthoriughly before a proper greasing.
I'd like to spruce up the underside with rust converter/paint etc wherever possible
Other then effort - what degreaser is advised/
Also what paint for metal parts - bumper brackets/etc?
Thinking of hammerite as i've touched up a couple of areas with it already after cleaning back to metal and rust treating bare metal.

I'm not a fan of Hammerite, as it goes on thick and dries a tad brittle, so it chips on exposed parts. I favour chassis black, which is available from paint factors. Frosts also do it - scroll down their paint page..........

I have looked at Frosts and will prob go that route. Hammerite used as a stopgap only so far,on front bumper bracket.
