Are they custom made to measure, or off the shelf? Nigel Nigel, Most definitely custom made. I know because I had to supply him with a set of 'standard' hoses as patterns. That having been said, I don't know if any of the set he supplied were hoses which were specc'd for another car ( eg something else in the Ford range?) I know that Ben and Mike D are now stocking certain of the hoses in silicone ( It was part of the deal we did with Paul Roose). The particluar problem I had was the 'elephant's trunk' I had to buy a new one from the Factory ( it is actually a Morgan part) and it was a bit pricey Roose wasn't the only source we tried. Samco were very helpful but are now of a size where they really cannot any longer get into the 'totally bespoke' market for single sets because the production loss means that their tooling costs for bespoke are very high. We also tried Viper Performance. It's good kit but we ruled them out on grounds of price and a very vague delivery date

What is better about silicone hoses over standard rubber ones? and do you have to use wider s/s clips on silicone, because it is I believe softer than rubber? Peter They will last a lot longer for a start Peter. They have less elasticity than rubber but I don't believe wider clips are essential - best check that with a silicone hose supplier though. If not done already, it's also a good time to change to stainless hose clips I do like hoses in blue... Cheers, yeh, I like blue as well but with a red car it seemed to be introducing too many colours under the bonnet- hence black. Of course, there was also the major decision as to whether I had them with or without a logo.( Or, as one member of the Surrey posse suggested, 'to chav or not to chav'!) The compromise was WITH logo but a small one!! G ( Now where did I put that Burberry baseball cap )

I went down to see the guys at Samco earlier this week and picked their brains about the best clips to use/ what to look for. Their comments were it was important that: 1.clips were stainless steel to prevent any corrosion issues 2. the edges of the 'band' should be rounded and not have any sharp surfaces 3. band should be solid ie no serrations which allowed the worm drive to rub against the hose itself 4. Their view was that the best clips were either Mikalor or JCS ( They weren't too keen on 'Norma' clips) G
