Mine are poor around where the machine screws go into the pillars so it’s obviously chipped the paint finish (whatever it is) and water gets underneath oxidising the ali, flaking the paint

I just mix up a bit of Humbrol modelling enamel using silver and a bit of gloss black and white and paint into the bits where it’s chipped off

It’s not a permanent solution as the ali will have been oxidised but it seems to be keeping it at bay

A more thorough way might be to put an etched primer for ali on first when touching up

I had mine chromed last winter - obviously not an easy job...

Morganpark in Hamburg has a Top-Chroming facility at their hands (NOT in Germany.. ;-) ) so i´ll give theirs a try next Winter - together with the ever-pitted fuel caps

They would sell well............

They would be prohibitively expensive in the volumes that would sell....

And chuffin' heavy which would bring its own problems

Anodized aluminium?

Reminds me of bicycle bells.

Anodising is poor in harsh environments. Any surface process will lift if there is electrolytic rot underneath. Sort the materials out and I suspect the current material will be fine. Just like the paint finish is on good quality ali wheels these days.

in fact have several treatment possible not simply anodized , but won't come that cheap and it's also related to the quality of the base ( apparently the first serie are not that good)

is powder coating any good? place in Barnsley is really good with alloy wheels

If you could get the stay clean enough then I think it would be worth a try, after all powder-coated alloy wheels seem to survive pretty well in harsher conditions.

The problem as I see it is that you'd have to blank off the screw holes as otherwise they'd end up undersized, and that would give a potential route for corrosion to get under the powder. Maybe Duralac could help here.
