How are your tyres? Maybe hardening off a bit?
There's no way I can lock the fronts on my Roadster. The brakes are average at best with no initial bite. Which is why I'd like an upgrade!
Oh -Greenstuff pads and grooved/dimpled discs.

That's odd Dave, I used to lock up my roadster fairly easily.
But I don't mind that, depending on the surface I believe it can help slow the car.

I've locked the rears on my 4/4 on a few occasions, never the fronts though.

I find it quite easy to lock the fronts on our 4/4 in an emergency stop - makes me think and modulate the braking in a way that has become unnecessary in modern designs.

I can lock the fronts on my 4/4 quite easily if I try with the standard Lockhead 4 pot calipers and discs especially now I've fitted braided hoses. Even on good, warm, dry tarmac.
I've have toyed with removing the servo to give more feel but I don't know how much braking effort I would lose. Interesting experiment maybe.
Perhaps it's just that the standard Conti's lack grip but they're only 3 years old.

Tyres are fine. Even when new the locking up was there under HARD braking.

I can lock all four of mine under hard braking - but rarely do I need that kind of pedal force.

Dave, I have locked the brakes but only on very dry roads & in extremis due to some crazy Italian drivers south of Rome.

I drove a early plus 8 recently that had had the servo taken out. The brakes were fine but felt very dead. All worked well though. Nick

Buy some larger diameter discs from the car spares place obviously with same hole spacing and dish and get you local machine shop to turn them down. That should be a lot cheaper
