Again, if you read it in Smiths then you haven't looked at it for some time, it hasn't been on sale in Smiths since its re-launch.

I've no personal axe to grind and no connection with the magazine but some of the criticisms of it here appear to be somewhat outdated.

I tend to agree with the 'can scan content in 10 mins' for MOG. That has certainly has been my experience for the last year's worth. =1 to KEVFITZ comment that Octane is one of the few magazines worthy of a proper read. Although we shouldn't forget Car magazine for the more modern/mainstream.

If it were down to me, I'd set up a "Dave's Shed" website and invite some contributors, publicised through the model engineering / practical classics / etc facebook groups and websites.

No need for all that faffing about with paper copies. Just bung a few taster articles up for free and then put the real meat behind a paywall but with simple one-off micro-payments per article, a fixed price for the entire month's content, and reduced rate for a subscription (get the articles a week ahead of the publication emailed to you in pdf form.

I cycle between Flypast an excellent magazine in every way, Motor Sport it's ok but used to be better and Classic and Sports car which is middling a subscription would bore me to tears there isn't one out there worth a regular copy to me.

Looked at one Octane and Top Gear and thought elitist dross. Mog and Miscellany which I have read 2 of each are pretty dire really.

Flypast and The Automobile are my subscriptions. Enjoy both in their different ways. A friend lets me have his copies of Classic and Sportscar which I quiye enjoy but I find it to be a bit repetitive - find myself skipping several articles an issue justified by the fact that I get it for free. I start Classic and Sportscar at the back wit the Our Cars and Cars for Sale Reviews.

There must be regional variations in the magazine distribution world. I haven't seen MOG magazine in newsagents for quite some time but "The Automobile" is widely available here in Hampshire.
