I had to slightly ream out the grey plastic inserts, otherwise a perfect fit

Everybody speaks well of JT, and I can confirm he has good products (have bought two covers) and is a great guy to deal with. I am sure his mirrors are superb, but there are alternatives. Heart of England, for instance, has two models (both round and as far as I know convex) and the second one has a slightly larger diameter. Now, I do not expect people to have different brands and be able to compare, but can anybody comment on the HoE model two?

Yes, I have a pair of the HoE 'Model two' mirrors, as you say they have a slightly larger diameter and like the JT mirrors have a slightly convex face giving a wide field of view.

I bought them purely because I wanted to buy a set of bases as well, and I preferred the look of the mounting arrangement on the rear of the mirrors to the JT or Librands alternatives.

I can't compare them with the JT mirrors because I've not driven a car with them on, but I have no reason to believe the JT mirrors are not just as good in performance terms as these. What I can tell you is they are a heck of a lot better than the factory-fitted mirrors.

I have HoE large mirrors - what an improvement over the standard issue.

I have no experiance of the other brands.

The mirror and the adjuster in Tim’s photo look identical to the JT ones so I’m pretty sure it’s the same mirror sold at HofE

Just the design of the stem is different

I do rather like the ‘bullet’ stem but it looks shorter than JT’s because if I pushed my stems right into the fitting, it would stick out another good inch from yours Tim

Unless you’ve cut them down

I have both the more common stems. The simple HofE and the bullet.

There's little to chose, except the bullets are screw threaded into the main stem and need a smear of Loctite.

There's little to chose between the mirror sizes either to be honest.

But they are a huge improvement over either of the standard items.
