I fully understand Simon. I had my S1 for 8 years and it was starting to have a few niggles so bought the Aero 8 SS which was my dream car and put the S1 in storage. It's a brilliant car to look at - if you know what I mean but now really missing the S1 as it had "character". However, I think putting the SS in hibernation instead may make "my other half" question any sanity I have! regards T Yes - if I bought a second Aero, my wife would put me in hibernation.

No, it’s a burgundy colour with 1966 “E” reg plates Simon Point of order E suffix reg covered the whole of 1967. I should know I was well out of short trousers then

Loved my GTD40 but unfortunately it didn’t have aircon , so was way too hot when the sun came out. Too much work to retrofit, so had to go

Nice colour! Mine has air con but no gas, so pretty toasty with the engine right behind you, radiator in front and pipes connecting the two running along the sides. Heat control is an issue! Simon

I should know I was well out of short trousers then Actually, D suffix was from Jan '66, until the E suffix came in later that year - August (IIRC) 1st. The E suffix then started in 1966 for 12 months with F suffix coming in in 1967.

one cannot compare them i think…. a GT40 is a tin top race car for the track , not build for street use i'm afraid….Aero is a soft top cruiser … with most pleasure top down .

Very true they are not direct competitors but you would be surprised how comfy the GT40 is. I did 1k miles in first month of ownership, with no probs,
