It sounds as though the drivers behind are close enough to do that!

I think removing the interior mirror is depriving you of one of the sources of information of what is going on around your car. Sure, it takes away a little of the forward vision, but who can say it is so much that it is a safety problem. In addition, the door mirrors are generally convex (should be, at least - as the flat ones are rubbish and ought to be changed) and thus give a distorted image of sizes and angles. Then the flat interior mirror is a useful addition and correction to that, not least when you are reversing. Bringing in trucks and motorbikes I think is irrelevant - they do not have a choice. However, reversing cameras are becoming more and more frequent, not only in trucks but also sedans. So for me, convex door mirrors, and a flat interior mirror. Safety first.

Yes Colin that is all well and good but how do you apply your makeup whilst on the move ? Invariably when two up in the Morgan the first glance into the rear view mirror when setting off finds it angled towards the passenger who is adjusting/checking some aspect of her appearance!

The Plus 8 has a mirror built into the passenger sun visor...!!

I have a van which does not have the rear view mirror. Yes the door mirrors are excellent but you are always mindful of what you can't see (particularly pedestrians when reversing) and cautious as a result. So no way would I delete my rear view mirror.

But in the Morgan, you can look over your shoulder to check for pedestrians or indeed anything else when reversing. When I was taught to drive, almost 50 years ago, I was always told to reverse by looking over the shoulder. IIRC it was a test fail to reverse only using the mirrors.

Yes, you can look across your shoulder, but you can hardly twist your neck 180 degrees. And if you can, you certainly cannot look ahead at the same time, shifting your glance quickly between what is going on behind the front screen and in the mirror. You asked for opinions, and most of us have disagreed that it is a good idea to scrap one of the sources of information. But of course, every man to his own, and surely it is not illegal. I just do not see any significant benefit, only disadvatages.

The rollover bar on the Plus 9 obscures rear vision, as does the hood. The door mirrors are essential.
A combination of mirrors and over shoulder looking is almost as good as a 360 camera system on the C43!!
