My search for improved suspension started today with a trip to Meteor motorsport to measure up the Aero for new dampers / springs.

First thing was to take the corner weights, without driver 307.5 / 311.6 front and 333.5 / 322 kg rear.

With a fat bloke in the drivers seat 311 / 330.5 front 355 / 367 kg rear. Shows how far back the engine in the chassis, that the bias is to the rear, which quite surprised me.

Next some measuring to establish the motion ratio (Damper to wheel), the rear was easy enough but the nose really needs to come off for the front so we will do that another day.
It appeared that the bush for the bottom mount of the rear damper is welded in situ! Has anybody removed a rear damper?

At the moment the favourite damper is a Quantum possibly one way adjustable, if the adjuster can be engineered into the rather short damper body. It looks like spring rate can be increased with improved damper control by possibly 20%. Which should stop the rear wheel making contact with the arch on compressions.

In other news, Rimstock can supply 17" rims in Aero sizes, which should improve ride on the road, hopefully they will clear the front brakes (they've sent me a PDF of a section of the wheel to make a cardboard template to check.

Wish I'd thought of that before I fitted new Yokos to the stock rims, Doh!

Interesting...I'll be watching your reports.

Changing tyres from Avon ZZ3 to Michelin Sport Pilot 4 Super has made a massive improvement, but I feel that MMC Value engineering has been applied to the springs and dampers.

Which generation Aero do you have? Tarka uses the Supersport Aero Tub, I understand with inboard springs/shocks.

Rimstock made my S4 forged alloys. They do a good job!

It's a shame they have given up the wheel refurbs. They did a brilliant job of both my alloys and my magnesiums.

I thought they still did the refurbs, lotus silverstone offered to send a rim back to them from my Evora a couple of months ago.
