My son (named driver on the Fabia) gets a speed ing ticket, then a four month ban, then a 280 euro fine then my insurance company strips him from the insurance and informs me that when my contract ends they will not renew it - I was not even in the car! Then yesterday I narrowly avoid being rear ended by the same driver twice, who then overtakes me whilst I am preparing to turn left and then today a tractor, hedge cutting, does a u-turn in front of me without a signal and a woman runs me off the road and onto the pavement in town. I am giving up on this week.

Were the fine and 4 month ban for speeding? Seems a bit draconian!

That is a very harsh call on the insurance. Take care out there the rest of the week.

Sorry to hear your bad news. The insurance companies seem to be trying to improve their profit levels by removing risk across the board at the moment. I have heard a few comments similar to this but it is no surprise. I don't think it is totally unfair. My Aero S2 only cost me £200.45 this year including PNCB, loan car, 6000 miles. That's good for £45,000 of risk. Insurance for young drivers is horrific so everyone puts them on as named drivers. This is then causing problems so the insurance companies are acting in the manner you describe. They see it as you cheating by hiding a higher risk driver under your name. In effect they are right however given there are no other ways of doing it in a sensible manner it is a problem of their own making. I renewed my insurance yesterday. Same company and car mix but it had gone up from £1400 to £1800 which made me spit the dummy as well. My one remaining speeding penalty expired it's five years. I got three other quotes and then called them and they took it back down to £1480. Well that's a win for customer service isn't it
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Sorry to hear of your woes, hope you get it sorted I’ve had my fair share of insurance companies and sons but mainly down to rediculous pricing
Just think, next week will be 100 times better

Well ta for the support chaps.
I get that insurance companies will do what they do but they knew he was a newish driver when they took him on. What I left out was that the broker questioned whether it was wise to inform them of his fine! I pointed out that it was being honest AND that hidden in the small print was a 5000 euros fine if I didn't. According to the broker they would assume that I would continue to let him drive. I also forgot to say that whilst parked the Fabia collected a big dent. Needs a new wing.
