I suspect Theresa May thinks she's had a fairly cr_p week as well!

I read a piece the other day about a guy that had a prang up on the west coast of Scotland somewhere. He was following a bus, didn't leave space when it stopped, and it backed up to let someone through and squashed him into the rockery. No injuries, just lots of Grrrr etc.

His insurance wouldn't collect his car from the scene as it was specified in the small print that he was in an excluded zone for the policy..

He had to pay to get it back to reality where they collected it for repairs, and get the costs back from the bus company.

It seems that buying a cheap policy from the Meerkats or the fat bloke etc they shave the costs down to the bone to get your money..

Yes, it amazes me how people happily fork out umpteen thousands of pounds for their car and then try and chisel a few quid off their insurance, only to find the claims handling is shite when they most need it.

I'll bet your son is pretty upset too. He must of been going pretty quick though to get a fine like that and a disqualification! Or are there special rules for inexperienced drivers?

So often speed cameras are placed in zones where it is eay to go faster than the posted limit.

I must remember that they are getting tough on speeding the next time I'm in France.

It's even harder on new drivers over here.

Currently, there is a probation period of 2 years from the time you gain your licence. This means that within the 2 years following your pass, if you gain 6 points or more, you could have your licence revoked. In the event that this happens, you will need to reapply for your provisional licence and take your theory and practical test again. A revocation is different to a disqualification. Revocation means you can continue to drive under the terms of a provisional licence, a disqualification means you cannot drive at all.

I don't see that as harsh. Its well established that the safety risk from any activity is greatest immediately after training and " getting the licence*. Doesn't matter whether the activity is driving or diving or operating a machine. Both my kids ( and me) had a minor accident within two weeks of passing the test

I believe the introduction of the 125cc/BHP limitation on motorbikes in the UK reduced casualty stats considerably. I was surprised they did not do this for cars as well. We could have used the Japanese Kei class 660cc machines as they were RHD.

I know the first two years of my driving bought some bad choices and one accident which should have been avoidable. That level of freedom

I don't mean that to reflect on your situation meabh.

Are you saying that your insurance company will refuse to insure you at the end of the contract?
