It’s says on page 9, at the moment only EU markets are subject to WLTP so new build 4/4’s are still available to order in all other countries where the 4/4 is on sale.

For UK and EU they have built up a significant stock of pre reg cars available in the dealers network, so if you are looking to buy a 4/4 in the next few months your dealer should be able to offer you one.

For the moment though, you can’t order a bespoke 4/4 as the factory aren’t building new ones for the Uk/EU markets until the changes are all sorted and the certification signed off.

The 4/4 is absolutely still alive however, and should be fully back on sale within 12 months. There isn’t a precise timescale however. By the time WLTP is applied to other markets, the upgrade will have been completed and the car back in full production.

To quote from the article...

"Unfortunately however, the new model will need to undergo new emissions testing and effectively be rehomologated, which is an expensive procedure."

I have every confidence in the future of Morgan, they’ve never made engines so obsolescence of the power unit isn’t a new problem. The dilemma always comes down to pounds and pence. With enough money, anything can be done, all that matters is, will it be profitable?

All the same, It’s good fun trying to second guess and we’d all like to be the first to know what’s next.

Okay, thank you both for the info. One more question, is it safe that the Sigma engine will pass the new tests, or is it just an insecure brave attempt?

There's the full story about 4/4 production on page 9 of the current Miscellany.

Essentially apart from the EU, 4/4's will be available unchanged.

For the EU, the 4/4 needs an ecu upgrade and be re-homologated, which will take time.

So the vital question is when do we cease being an EU member then ?

If it is 29thMarch 2019 it will make no difference to the domestic market as there is so much stock hanging around at the dealers at the moment to move on up until then.

It will give the factory a chance to catch up on the M3W (not) recalls innocent..
