Compliant/legal side pipe equipped Supersport due back at midday tomorrow.
I'll inspect the exhausts tomorrow afternoon and report back. Did you go to Stephan? I spoke to him - but I had to give the importer the opportunity to correct the illegality of the car they sold to me. And they did - but not enough. The car was measured at the noise re-test this morning at 94dB - which is still someway short of the 86dB in the CoC. The importer will now beg/plead with Morgan to reissue a CoC for the car with a higher noise value. If that fails then the wicket will have just got that little big stickier for them

That's interesting... on the last page of the brochure is this sketch... which does look quite a lot like an early drawing of an S5... Will

I am sure that when the S5 was released there was a comment from MMC saying the always wanted the Aero to look like the S5. Although that could just be sales talk. Back to the plot though: I have the link on the AR page for the Supersport parts and it has the schematic for the standard exhaust. There doesn't seem to be one for the the side pipes. https://www.aero-racing.co.uk/partsbooks/supersports/exhaust_system_standard.htmFrom the link my basic understanding is that the side pipes delete everything from 4 back. Does anyone know if this is correct? If it is, then it is little surprise that they are so loud having lost a silencer. In order to maintain the position there are 2 solutions to hit 86dB: 1) Massively improve #3 2) Replace #2 with a bespoke fairly narrow silencer Anyone with any thoughts on that? Or have the schematic for the side pipes? Or pictures of the system? My race car has a custom exhaust from Zero - so I may speak with them if modification can be made

The second set of underside photos are almost exactly the same as Tarka, other than the split from a single pipe to 2 pipes occurs closer to the rear on Tarka.
The silencers look the same size as well.
As previously mentioned, with the stock exhaust the noise level as measured 1m from the drivers door by the Castle Combe circuit was exactly as stated on the V5 registration document.
I don't see why fitting side pipes would significantly change the sound volume, but I suspect that the cause may be that the sound measurement device was too close to the car. I'm sure if the sound meter was 1m from the rear it would have been louder.
BUT if the rules in Switzerland say the noise measurement must be from the side of the car then side pipes are likely to fail.

From (bad) memory there are two elements to be considered?
Exhaust CoC and factory spec was rear exhaust AR Racing (after delivery officially?) custom to sidepipes.
Cats CoC standard capacity Cats AR Racing (post delivery) high capacity Cats.
It might be worth checking the Cats as well.

IIRC they are the rear sport option and not the rear standard exhaust! Its like Morgan got all random with the parts they fitted to their cars I've pinged my "exhaust guy" in the UK to see what he can come up with as a solution. Useful information on the cats Alastair. I know the race car sounded a little more interesting once the cats were retired.

I believe the options was for high-flow Cats not deletion. It was on the AR price list not the Aero price list.
Deleting them would mean illegal readings on the MOT figures. I did look into doing this for the ML63 but the messing around at MOT time was not worth the effort.
