Congratulations👍
I’ve been retired for 18 months now! I can’t imagine how I managed to fit a fultime job in. There’s not enough time in the day to do all the things I enjoy doing.
Just live for today end enjoy, this is your time👍👍👍

Congratulations Paul. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am. It’s brilliant being able to do all that stuff you always wanted to at your own pace.

When I was working I always found it irritating when retired people said that, now I’ve been retired for 16 months I know it to be true and find myself saying it all of the time. I can honestly say there hasn’t been a single day when I’ve regretted retiring early or been bored.

+1

The trick is to ensure that you don’t over commit. Some structure helps (the combination of our horses, the U3A and my role as a Charity Trustee see to that!).

Richard that's about right. Retirement takes a bit of planning (unlike children who can appear without a plan) but it can be a terrific time. Well done Paul and also Tim who seems to have the garage and the Morgan sorted just in time. I'll bet they were part of the plan.

One mustn’t forget that we (those born between, say, 1940 and 1970) are the most fortunate generation: the NHS has looked after us well during our lifetime increasing the average lifetime by years; index linked final salary pension schemes for many; huge property inflation which enabled us to trade up and make more money than we were able to earn or save; no major world wars and no conscription; lived through the birth of roll n roll, the Beatles, the E- Type Jaguar plus many other classic sports cars which are now hugely sought after, just to mention a few.
And we are now able to enjoy the rewards!
Feel free to add to the list!

+1

Added to the list:
We weren’t distracted by “stuff” so we could focus our limited resources on our houses in the early stages of our nest building.

And we can pass some of our good fortune on to the next generation.
