Both to have is not too bad. I drive my 4/4 extremely carefully and never fast in the wet or cold and damp weather.
When hitting the deer I was not too fast but it was cold and wet. In this conditions the 4/4 just slides further.
I‘m wondering if airbags would work at all given the structure of a Trad.

I think a lot of people here are very supportive of airbags looking at the other thread about cars.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

So, it looks like there is another gap in the 'after market' accesory fields for Trad. Morgans? Maybe something our friends at Librands, Williams or Cain can look at?

Wow! Didn’t think my initial posting re the hire car would generate so much comment, with the thread morphing into a debate about ABS / Airbags and their merits.
I agree with the comment above that if Morgan were to design (or have designed) a sports wheel which both looks good as well as having an airbag incorporated then I could be a convert from my lovely Motalita. Their previous attempt was very ugly, as pointed out above and looks horrible. However, “dream on” I hear many of you saying!
Steve Simmonds would love the challenge I am sure, but he fell out with the factory many years ago, legitimately in my view as they pinched his great ideas and innovations and then tried to shut him down. That’s another story, of course. However, he has now re-started his motor accessory business around steering wheels for E-types as well as other cars, including Morgans.
Regarding ABS, or the lack of it, there is no doubt that I adapt my driving of my Roadster accordingly, and leave extra room for stopping in damp or slippery conditions particularly.
Being a biker, I am used to taking extra caution and often equate driving my Morgan with riding my 1200GS. A biker needs to concentrate 10 times more than when in a car to avoid unthinking or just plain bad drivers who are often oblivious to bikers.

Airbags were fitted for a while on some export cars and as a UK option. You got the Land Rover steering wheel which looked awful. Thats why the structure changed in 1997.
I'm not convinced the regs would allow a retro fit, and think of the liability if the airbag you designed causes a fatality or doesn't prevent one.
If you want to enjoy cars like Trads and Caterhams and most Classics and motorbikes, then you have to set aside this concern.
If you can't then buy a modern.

Totally agree about driving it like you would ride a bike. For me that equates to defensively.

Well I think all of us that drive Classic or an M3W realise that we are at risk but that is part of the package you are buying into, if you don't like risk don't buy one really.
