Bob make sure you mark what handle under the motor is for the used waste water tank and which one is for the contents of the loo . A few years ago . I hired a large one took my parents and us up to Scotland . Jnr kept going to the loo as we travelled for fun . But left the taps on . Before we started I asked the firm which handle under it was for what and he pointed them out. By the time I stopped the 1st night in Moffat the water tank was dry due to Jnr leaving the tap on . So its fill up and off , stopped in a large car park near a well known loch and over the top of a sink to empty the waste water tank . Got under the motor and pulled the handle ( the one he said was for the waste water ) WHOOSH covered in Sh*t . The dick head had told me the wrong one . I pulled the other one to let the waste water out and try to get it to send the human waste towards the sinks , but no luck just more mess so to say ( he said that both tanks had been emptied MY ARSE THEY HAD . jumped into motor and off . I stank and had to stop and get washed and changed best I could . Well they say S for luck . Going over Rannoch moor an old wagon hit the drivers side and took it off . Very lucky as Jnr was sitting with pillows behind her . I stopped jumped out and started to run after the wagon . It was a Glaswegian taking a firms motor back for a friend and no insurance . Almost a fight but he backed off with his pals . Police arrived and ambulance . Told off police never to park on the moor and leave a car etc you return to find no car just bits left . Everyone put in ambulance . I had to drive the damaged motor to Fort William with no side on and the huge wagons carrying trees just shot past knocking bits of the trim off as they flapped about . They say S for luck still waiting .

We've had our Sprinter-based van coming up to two years now. Wish we'd got one years ago. Really worth joining the Caravan and Motorhome club for access to their Certificated Locations (CLs) - great little sites with no more than 5 units in great locations. Enjoy!

I'll check to see how far up a geostationary orbit is.
I'm not bothered by Clarkson, I follow the caravan code and pull in when I have chickens.
I'll double check the outlet taps, the seller is a dealer who knows what he is talking about.
We are already in the Caravan and Motorhome and the Camping and Caravan Clubs and have also looked at Practical Motorhome Nightstops.

A Taffmogger has a motorhome and tows his Mog on a trailer. Uses the Mog to explore his destinations. Some trips 6 weeks or more.
Our local Noggin place has a few hard standings with hookup points, shower block. A good location for exploring West/Mid Wales. Damn good food there too.

Thank you. I was thinking of towing the MX5 on a spectacle lift but I need to get used to the motorhome on its own first.

Hi Bob looks a great buy and such low mileage and a Mercedes not run in yet !
My Brother has always wanted one so hired a similar one and had a fantastic two weeks in South West Scotland,the only draw back was once you are sited on a remote site if you have forgotton something it was a pain to pack up and drive out.
He would definately look at a small car or quad bike when he buys a camper for exploring the surrounding areas.

Why do Motorhomes tend to have such patterned upholstery, don’t they do plain colours?

Thank you both. I think it stems from caravans but how they started with patterns, I don't know.

Again, thank you both. We'll probably be doing small journeys in Scotland too, until I get used to the driving. I'm quite happy with caravan towing, so it will certainly be easier reversing!

All you need to unhook would be the electric but round villages and small towns a small car having been towed would be ideal. I'm thinking of an electric bike or small motorbike for when we run out of bread and milk.
