Hello DIY-Morganeers,

Here are some modification and accessoires I made.

The small diode-torch has an accu and can always stay connected instead the cigarett lightener. Rotating the head you switch it on/off. It is perfect for emergency cases at night and on its place, it is a illumination for the glove box.





I disliked the many holes for bolts on the engine not used when mounted in a Morgan. I closed them with stainless “adornment bolts”. They fit well to the bolts design of the wings.





The rocker cover emblem (+4 Duratec) is engraved by a special gas-laser (the characters are then dark brown-grey and very sharp in smallest details) in a matt aluminum slightly rounded profile and glued with a PU-bond to the cover.







The very low position of the rear brake lights is not favorable in todays hectic and fast traffic. The 3rd brake light improves this, but it was for me still not perfect. I know, the purists remove the “cyclop-eye”, but I am not that brave...
I have modified the 3rd light so, that it flashes repeating. You need just a repeater relais - (scheme see picture). The too fast repeating (because only one bulb of 21Watt instead 2 buls when used in a repeater scheme) can be adjusted by a resistor (shunt). But there is a better method – you take a bulb 21/10watt and connect by soldering the two terminals (see picture). You also must adjust the bajonett hole (see picture). Now, the 10w part of the bulb has the shunt function and the thing flashes slower and with an intensive power of 31 watt.
Several friends and drivers confirmed the enormous increase of awareness of other traffic participants. Yes, probably it is slightly illegal, but very effective. And it can be perfected by a small switch to put the flashing off function...should the police stop one...

Hi Peter,

On the 2nd picture of the glove box, it looks like there is a small plunger. Is this to pop open the the glove box lid? If so is this now a standard Morgan fitting or aftermarket. Looks a lot neater then all the springs and plunger alternatives. (Vampirex rolled a custom spring that fits round the stay - excellent solution, but I'm blowed if I can make one)

Hello Brian,

Yes, it is a standard now, if You order the walnut dashboard. Once pressed - the lid pops up, second time pressed when closing - the lid closes.

I dont know, whether You can get it as a spare part at the factory. But there are similar systems for the furnitures with same function. Each larger DYI-shop should have them, or furniture builders, carpenters etc. They should be easily adaptable for the glove box.

I had already looked at the soft close mechanism used in kitchens a couple of years ago, a product called Blumotion (or somesuch) was the only available solution and I could not find one small enough. I have just googled again and there is more of them than you can chase a stick at. I should have kept up!

Hello David,

unfortunately I am for longer time out of my home, can't give You any info. But if I remember correct, I bought the torch at a local Czech accesories shop, and it might be it is even made in CZ.

However, the torch was about 25 pound, as it is of the finest components (diode, accu, body etc. it is a real jewell) including a special adapter to fit for the slightly different 12V-Sockets diameters, e.g. for the Morgan-Socket You will need it.
