We had a local farmer that had one of these and drove it like he stole it and sounded wonderful, sadly he is no longer with us it added a little extra colour to the landscape watching Richard tear up the tarmac. His spirit lives on through his son who does much the same in his RR V8 special in Epsom Green thumbs.

I think they are quite nice.

Getting a little more modern I always fancied a Beta Monte Carlo. There are a couple in the local classic car club.

Those Monte Carlo's are a pretty car with a nice aspect ratio.

Exactly. The kingpin slides up and down in the bushes and the stub axle is fixed to the kingpin. The whole assembly is much better protected from grit etc. It is a more sophisticated system than the Morgan sliding stub axle system but would have been more expensive to produce for a small manufacturer.

Lancia continued to develop and use this system up to about 1958.

The first Lancia to win my love the Stratos with Sandro Munari driving it at the time - fabulous sound.

Stratos never did it for me. But the Monte Carlo was a dream of a road or rally car.

I think the stratos was one of the most beautifull looking cars ever made especially in rally spec, but then again i like the metro 6r4 this coming from a morganeer who drives a cross eyed car.

I liked those 6R4's too they always reminded me of a Mars bar for some reason(chunky).
I didn't like the first Aero's at all when they came out but they have grown on me so we do continue to change.
