That direction is great - steep winding road to top of the hills with stunning views on a clear day. Then a winding road over the top towards Ammanford.
Be careful though - its VERY popular with bikers , especially on weekends. It is targetted by locals for reporting speeding and police do check.
Winter time - a crips clear day and its great but beware ice!
The run to it from Llandovery and the roads out of Llandovery are also a good area, bikers use the cafe in Llandovery.

Also a nice add-on to go from LLandovery up over the Eppynt and then come down into Brecon by the Cathedral

PS shouldn't that read, " Two million bikers regularly use the West End Cafe in LLandovery"? smile
Geat place to sell bikes though- I put up an ad. for my VFR on their notice board and by the time I got home to Gwent the 'phone had rung about half a dozen times!! thumbs

The West End cafe is a great place to visit GLLHG.Some awesome bikes call there. The secret roads in Wales are truly awesome for driving on. Thats why so many bikes end up there!. Its a shame more cars dont follow the bikers in going out and about. But then... that would fill up the roads a bit. There are so many good places to stop and have a lunch too. So wives get the extra treat and appreciate the Morgan a bit more!!

Perhaps we should add a section on cafes / eateries in the Places to Stay section?

Friends of ours were working down that way until a couple of years ago. We stayed with them a number of times and met lots of other grand folks. SWMBO even said she might relocated down there smile , when she now will not move to the Southern Uplands frown . We will be back ;thumbs:

v566 - sleeps 6. That's four more than we need then, unless anyone wants to share? Can't ask our friends who were in the area, they're in Houston at present... Looks very nice!

Cheers,

If anyone knows North Wales, have you tried to intergalactically- famous
'Pete's Eats' in LLanberis?
I used to know how many calories were recommended intake before a day mountain walking. Can't remember the figure now but I'm d*mnded sure that the breakfast at Pete's well exceeds the figure!!

Perhaps we should start a thread lamenting the passing of the old fashioned Transport Cafe? Such iconic eateries as 'Bert's' in Portchester and that corrugated tin place in Codford St Mary!!

Did a lunch run to Cawdor Arms in Llandeilo last week.
A476 llanelli to LLandeilo. Return route A483 through Ammanford and down to M4 then A484 to Llanelli and home. Nice winter drive - roads were ok but needed some care and no liberties taken!. Lunch was awseome £12.50 each for 2 courses but worth it!I had to give in and put the hood up though - I wanted to go hoodless but my passenger insisted!

Don't forget Bob's on the A45 outside Coventry - the gutted derelict shell is all that remains -was a late night venu in my biking days - along with Corley Services on the M6 - we used to nip up the police access road from Corley to save a trip up the motorway - a couple of the lads with Yamaha 250's were on L-plates

I usually tend to hit Llandeilo from the Llandovery direction. I've heard some good things about the Cawdor and it's on my 'places to try' list

I had to go up to Beulah, outside Newcastle Emlyn a little while ago, chauffeuring my mother who has finally decided - at 90!- that she doesn't want to drive anymore, up to see an old friend of hers. We ended up in the Penllwyn Du at LLangoedmor. I've never been there before but the food was excellent. All I need now is to be able to find it again! :xmascheers:
