At last.....rain..to wash the salt off the roads..apparently my moggie has a galvanised chassis, but I'll bet there are all sorts of mild steel nuts an bolts an things that would be more than willing to lose a few electrons,if aided and abetted by some salty water..............been driving her on roads that were dry, but presumably still salty, and gave the underneath a squirt with the pressure washer after, just in case.
Anyway, Its rained quite a bit, so back to the 'do I get her wet?' thing...............one things for sure- she aint getting hidden away for the winter........

Good man - I hoping to be out and about on New Years day in A11OGE.

I have not fired up the engine for weeks and very keen to get out there. I have always avoided wet roads, salty or not, but after the big thaw all surfaces around me are damp. Morganeering is so frustrating at times.

Same goes for mine ( and most Morgans with Galv chassis.) One, it's not the best galvanise job in the world and two, as soon as any hole(s)get drilled through it- as they do-to accept the various nuts, bolts, frames etc., the whole concept of it being galvanised is undermined. Hence the need to use something like Waxoyl or Tectyl. Don't put it on now though. Even if you can get the surfaces dry enough, the ambient temperature is so low it won't 'go off' for months, if at all!

Odd we should be talking about this today.

Two days ago we noticed that the rear off-side suspension on my wife's car had collapsed, so this morning International Rescue took it to Tony Howard's garage for repair.

With her car being repaired my wife took my car (tin top) out this morning and at 12:00 she rang me to say that my car had broken down - all the warning lights on etc - So we called International Rescue again to collect my the tin top. I did not need any excuses to leap into Thunderbird 1 (aka A11OGE) and drive off to collect my wife from her stranded position. Life's too short to worry about the rain.

On the journey home she said she had been thinking of being taken for a ride in the Morgan, but not in these circumstances. :snowlaugh:

I've been out twice this week in the remains of the snow, but todays jaunt was to see if I could hear the voice on the satnav( first time I have had one), and was astonished to hear it clearly, with only aeroscreens in place. I suspect that falling rain might quell my enthusiasm. Happy New Year to all . Meabh.

Having owned Morgans for eight years I can honestly say the rain has never stopped me enjoying the cars sans roof normally - Living in South Devon right on the coast I reckon I would probably only get about five drives annually if I waited for the "right dry conditions". I am of the belief that HFS and his descendents made these things for us to enjoy not collect dust. (10,000 miles this year of sheer enjoyment)

I am reminded that I was fed up with reading in the British motoring press that one couldn't use convertibles. So, for two years I kept a record of the weather and whether it rained on me to and from work. Thirty days was the answer. Occasionally it was hard rain and luck must have played its part but never-the-less...... Meabh.

So meabh how much rain in the South of France then ?
Not too much like Queensland I guess .
Come to think of it Rubymorgan might yet get to check out his Plimsol Line, this comment relates to another thread Ruby and I had going called Driving in the rain.
