Received an e-mail today from Holden Morgan. Seems a shame as they were a very helpful outfit.

Important Announcement
We have an important announcement to make. We will not be placing new car orders in 2019 and have reduced our remaining new car stock. As you can imagine this decision has not been taken lightly. With our proximity, we find ourselves competing with the factory selling cars and, with the cost required to invest in further car stock and operations, we don't feel prepared to make this commitment.

That's a bit of a pity will they carry on servicing the cars there, I imagine some on here that live in that area would like to know.

Their email said they would continue with the servicing side of things Richard.

As ever, there are two sides to every story.
I have pointed a couple of people on tours at Holdens, as being their nearest dealer, quite recently too. So be it.

A good sign that they are continuing servicing.
Having bought bits and bobs from them their service has been great.
Driven past a few times but always after they close!
Good luck to them in the future.

I thought that all new Morgan sales had to be through a dealer and couldn’t be direct from the factory anymore

Have I been mislead or have things changed?

I thought MMC confined themselves to selling ex-demonstrators?

Yes that’s exactly what I thought

I thought It was KangaDeRoos that forced dealers into ordering new stock on the promise that the factory would only sell ex demonstrators and stop taking direct orders

If the factory are now taking orders direct then no wonder Holdens is giving up on new car sales

Experience in my industry is that a successful manufacturer either goes totally down the distributor/dealer route and backs them up or goes direct only (unless in remote territories). A foot in both camps creates distrust and undermines the sales process

That's what I thought, someone on here a while back was kicking off about not being able to collect their new car from the factory - surely if the factory are selling them that is the logical step to pick them up at MMC. I also believed it to be part of the agreement that the MMC would not sell new in an effort to enable the dealers to move their increased number of stock cars under the Cloggers edict a couple of years back which saw the demise of a couple of very good dealerships.

It was my understanding that if you lived in the Malvern locality, MMC would sell directly to you.

That makes sense other than to Holdens.
