To think that in the UK where we are reasonably law abiding that Drones can massively disrupt air travel from the UK's number 2 airport and also from incoming flights is bonkers...isn't it ? Who are these Drone owners , they must be crazy !

And a plane could have crashed because of this !

Apparently drones have technology built into them which does not enable them to be used within one kilometre of an airfield, so the persons using them know what they are doing with the potential consequences.

Its not an equivalent safety situation but we had a case this summer where a chap anchored his boat in an estuary and was sat with wife in the cockpit when a drone appeared and hovered 20 ft away no doubt with the camera going and people on shore watching. He could see the operator and his mate, waved and shouted at them but got two fingers in reply. Went ashore and the respnse he got was very aggressive along the "i'll do whatever |I want line"

What is needed is a laser type "gun" emitting on the operating frequency of the radio coms used. Or an air rifle.

I reckon shooting a drone down with an air rifle should be entirely permissible where personal privacy or public safety is compromised.

Don't just shoot the drone , perhaps (tongue firmly in cheek!) shoot the operator too!

Drone jammers exist - one even looks like a rifle that you can point at a drone and bring it down. They're effective at around 100 yards - but rather expensive.

These people don't care. They live in a self indulgent bubble of entitlement and aggression.

AND these people are on the road.

The drone moron should get ten years.
