I'm the second owner but the car only had 1100 miles on it when I bought it in October from a Morgan dealer. It's still under the factory warranty so I shall be contacting them on Monday to see what they say.

This was the F/O/S wheel. Had the F/N/S off this morning and it's as you would rightly expect it to be - pretty much perfect. Most odd...

BobJ, I know you recognise it as NOT a major issue just an annoying one particularly for the money you paid.

As a second owner it's hard to know just what happened and when.

Get it fixed if need be and enjoy.....

You're absolutely right of course. As suspected, the warranty man has said that the paintwork on the inside face off the wheel would not be covered.

I shall suck it up and hope for the sake of my wallet that it doesn't play too much on my borderline OCD innocent

That's ridiculous.

No idea Nick. Rest assured that if it had been a brand new car I would have been making a much bigger deal of it.
I am unable to show either that the wheel left the factory like that or that the previous keeper hasn't had some form of bodged 'out of sight, out of mind' paint repair done on the wheel in the short time he owned it.
Coupled with the fact that the selling dealer is some 2.5hrs away, I can't pop over for a chat.
I just hope that the rear wheels are tip top like the F/N/S when I get chance to whip them off and await delivery of my expensive spare with some trepidation thinking

I’m fairly sure those wheels arrive painted silver and are then painted to match the car, so I don’t think you’ll have any corrosion issues. I’ve had my wheels off several times and although the inside finish isn’t the same standard as the outside face, I don’t recall having blemishes like yours.
In Morgan’s defence, very few manufacturers finish the inside surfaces of their wheels, yours are still better than most mainstream brands would supply.

My advice, forget about it, rather concentrate on keeping the steel hubs and brass nuts in good nick, the steel centre will rust if neglected. If it really bothers you, get some brush on paint to match and fix it yourself.

Black wires usually show damage when balance weights are taken off. That annoyed me when I had a tyre change on my last Morgan. Very difficult to patch repair.

My black wires are more of a Matt black finish on the inside, not a gloss finish like the outside

In my experience, it’s only possible to have a perfect finish on a wheel if one side is painted, cured then masked, before the other side is done, doing the whole wheel at once results in overspray blowing through and leaves a dull finish on the less important side.

While you have the wheels off, Bob, check those small hex head countersunk cap screws, they were very slightly loose on one of mine and made a clicking noise when driving.
