Finally and regarding the reduced louvres: at the 2009 Centenary, a well known senior MSCC member boasted of the weight saving his fully louvred bonnets had over my bonnet.  I think he's mistaken! The louvres are just pressed out...no metal is removed is it?  Nick I think that's why he's banging his head against a brick wall.

Hopefully the weather will be a bit better.
We may go sailing in the Grenadines in May, but nothing is sorted yet. If I'm around I'll definitely come down for the day as it's a great day out.

I expect Budster will be along in a minute to refute these scurrilous allegations about Stanley's ancestry.....  Did someone mention my name? Right: Basically, the Runabout was specified as follows; A reduced number of bonnet louvres, normally just 10 each side to the rear of the bonnet. Cloth facings to the seats. Vinyl, rather than leather, covering the inner panels. Painted wire wheels. Fixed seat backs. However: Some have full bumpers, some don’t. Some have tread rubbers, some don’t. Some have a 9 stud hood, some have an Easy-up. Some have a painted dash, some have a vinyl covering. Some have a glove box, some don’t. Some have exterior door handles, some don’t. So, typically Morgan. The black top Zetec engine is a cracker, lots of torque for a 1.8! The reduced louvres mean no panics of flooded spark plugs, when parked on heavy rain! I have owned mine for 14 years. I bought it on the basis of the newest car I could afford for my budget. Since then, I have made just a few upgrades Connolly leather seats and transmission tunnel - (£450 from a friendly trimmer, by leaving the seats with him for a few weeks during the winter); Motolita steering wheel; S/h walnut dash. 42,000 miles later I absolutely love my 4/4 Runabout (or “Poverty model” as once described by a member of TM) What an attractive concept - back to basics in the style of the sports cars I had in the 60s. Vinyl is a much more practical finish for an open car anyway.

Yes, thinking back to the sixties, 'sports cars' were so basic and were often regarded as 'first' cars as they could be bought relatively cheaply. I am thinking of the fog-eye sprites and midgets here rather than Astons and Healeys etc. of course, but fun motoring wasn't out of reach of teenagers as it is now. (I spotted a frog-eye recently up for sale at £19,500!: the mind boggles)

Nick, I’m not sure, im my memory the one at my dealer was LHD. Was your car equipped with spoked wheels or with steel rims when she came originally from the factory? Oh mine was rhd and wire wheels. I don't think steel rims were available on it or I'd have had them.... I'll do anything for easy maintenance. Nick
