Hi,

I have a 1995 4/4 with an 1800 Zetec engine. I am planning to replace the old cast iron exhaust manifold with a stainless steel unit. However I have been advised that removing the lambda sensor can be a problem and there is a high probability it will be damaged in the process. Can anyone advise me what the lambda sensor type is to let me get a replacement.

On my black top 1.8 Zetec the sensor was a NGK OZA519D1

Thanks for the quick reply. My engine is a silver top. I am not sure how standardised items such as lambda sensors are. You might think that for similar engines Ford would use the same sensor but of course a lot of circumstances might have caused a change.

I have found a decent socket made for the job can assist where a spanner won't work when removing lambda sensors on other cars.

A 7pc set of lambda removing sockets cost under £20 on ebay and may be worth investing in.

Ford's can be fussy with regard to the lambda sensor, in a Ford fitting none oem can give troubles, then you end up fitting the more expensive one anyway. How that relates to Morgan using Ford engines I don't know, but just be aware. Found this out when my wife's old StreetKa lost its sensor.

When I changed my manifold I also changed the ECU for future tuning and replaced the Lambda sensor with a new one from Omex.

The old OEM sensor came out OK but if you do damage yours, you can have my old one. It was working perfectly when I removed it.

A bit late but many thanks for all the very useful advice. A new Grandchild and other things got in the way of work on the Morgan in the last year but I am back on it now. Thanks again for all the help.
