I feel sad for those with a gluten free diet, all of the things I have tried so far feel like they were removed from the base of a budgie cage.

The rest is personal/medical preference. As Peter mentions its fine and I respect it but expect them to avoid making implications concerning my choice. If someone does start to harp on about my choice of eating meat I like to tell them I have already accommodate their sensitivity by not having it fully rare and still bleeding onto the plate. That usually starts a good argument.

Indeed. 'er indoors has been left with bile malabsorption syndrome following her gall bladder removal and has to follow the FODMAP diet - no gluten, no alliums (onions or garlic), no stoned fruit, no cashew nuts. It's a right bugger for her.

Vegetables are fine when they’re battered and deep fried, then they look like proper food.

The saying goes
You are what you eat.
Does that make vegans/ vegetarians nuts?

I know many vegetarians and a few vegans. None are the preachy stereotype they wheel out on mock-serious TV and radio programmes. None of them pass judgement on my choice of food. Nice people actually.

I've never heard a meat eater trying to convert a vegetarian so why do some feel the need to convert others I wonder. Our No1 daughter has been vegetarian since she visited an abattoir when she was 13 and doesn't feel the need to convert anyone else.

We have at least 5 couples we meet up with that are vegetarian but it never appears in conversations really.

FT I think you are right it's the media that push the vegetarians into the persuader role incorrectly.

Sister turned vegetarian while working as a veterinary surgeon. She didn't think it was right to be fixing animals by day and eating them in the evening. She obviously didn't have any customers who owned fish...
Agree with the media comment.
