Can anyone tell me if it’s possible to remove the engine and leave the gearbox in. Looks like I will have the support eh gearbox as it appears the engine is supporting it. I have stripped all the anciliary stuff off, including radiator removal. Looks like it’s should just split and lift.... any tips from someone who’s done it

Cheers

Dave, many years ago my CVH engine in a 4/4 stayed in (but pulled forward) as we had to get the 'box out, so should be possible

Good luck 'cos it's a lot of work and skinned knuckles

Cheers I was really interested to know if there is enough room to move the engine forwards off the gearbox input shaft - I guess I might now find out until it’s spilt. If there isn’t enough room to clear the shaft then it will have to come out as one - which looks a much bigger job!

It is possible to get a CVH engine out without the gearbox, but you do have to remove the cowl and take out the radiator. Here's mine:

That’s PERFECT thank you sooo much! Taking off the cowel and rad is easy - well compared to trying to do it when the engine is half hanging off a hoist!! Hopefully it will be straightforward after that. I actually live near Gloucester too!

Was that photograph taken near Market Drayton by any chance?
