Jack we all know that, even at your age, you are an incurable old romantic. I have a feeling that the rest of us just treat Valentines day with the derision it deserves, in other words, it is a commercial opportunity, and I can't help feeling that there are many who take advantage of that opportunity too.

OK, OK, I have to admit that I did give in and buy one stem red rose - £3.00 from Sainsbury's and a ready cooked heat and go dinner with 2 chocolat Guu's to follow and a quarter bottle of Proseco. They don't call me the last of the big spenders for nothing, in fact thinking about it, no-one does actually call me the last of the big spenders at all, but after 40 something years with the first wife, I find I'm not quite so romantic as I was in my mid 20's - I wonder why?

Paul WRONG SO WRONG . IF you love her don't be afraid to show it and let the world know Slip a box of chocolates under her pillow when its just an ordinary day but take one out . She will see the funny side . Take her shopping help her pick her underwear and pay for it . Yes you will shock her I do it do I care what others think, do I hell . But tell her you bought them so you are going to remove them . Love is a two way thing . Don't be a Southern tight arse you cannot buy love , it grows . Chuck her on the bed and snog her like you did when you where a young lad . Now you know why Southern women like us Geordie lads . You are coming over as tight as two coats of paint . You only live once ENJOY IT. Also its not what you buy its the way that you go about it and handle it.
