Nice.
I once went down to Monthléry to a Bentley Drivers Club event there, in which my cousin was participating in his 1927 3 litre. It wasn't officially "racing" as such, but I was astounded at how vigorously the cars were being driven.
Interesting also to compare the massive advances in about a decade between those Bentleys and the cars of the previous film

Brilliant. Thanks for posting. I bet that was the best £200 he ever spent.

An interesting point about the big advances between the 10 years or so.

Brilliant. Thanks for posting. I bet that was the best £200 he ever spent. ...but then that was the going rate back then. My Dad bought a 1928 Rolls Royce 20HP back in 1963 for £25. It had been converted from a saloon to a woody shooting brake and had been used as such on a Scottish sporting estate. He was stationed at Faslane at the time; they were preparing it for it's new use as the home for the Navy's fleet of Polaris submarines. A couple of the engine room artificers on the base fixed the car up for him. He maintains that even the Glasgow bus drivers would get over to the correct side of the road when they saw it coming. My Ma absolutely hated it, and ended up giving him an ultimatum 'Either that car goes, or I do". What still rankles with her to this day was that he asked her if he could have a couple of days to think about it. The car went, but it did install a certain stubborn streak in the old man, so when as a student I was under the maternal cosh over my various old Mini Coopers which were littering the drive, he'd stick up for me.

Two great videos. Thanks As Giles knows, a trip to the Revival at Montlhery is the closest I’ve ever come to the spirit and fun of that era. Virtually all the cars there are ‘fully patinated’ and driven with gusto around the banked circuit. To see an ERA and the Norris Special Fraser- Nash thundering along wheel to wheel, at nearly 100mph, near the top of the bumpy, concrete banking, on a damp track, is truly spectacular. The drivers have my utmost admiration. WO Bentleys are way above my budget, but I was really drawn to a beautiful 1920s Rolls 20 HP, Park Ward Doctor’s Coupe that attends local events. Horizontal slatted radiator, 3 litre, straight 6. Amazingly worth about 20% of a similar era Bentley. Not a racer, but gorgeous.

We have my good ladies mother in a nursing home in a fairly fragile state so we don't travel too far away these last few years but Montlhery is certainly a place I would like to experience, meanwhile I go to Goodwood Revival to get my annual fill of the era and of course it has vintage aircraft my second love. Getting really spoilt this year, I'm off to the FOS at Goodwood too to experience the other end of the spectrum with my SIL.

...and the 20HP models can be very accessible. Consider this one for sale at The Classic Car Co. A charming car with all the right mods for a very affordable budget. http://www.realcar.co.uk/view-cars/2327
