After all, the performance of the 3.7 corresponds to its rpm, Ivo. I didn't drive it, but I had a Mustang with the same motor as a rental car four years ago in the USA. Around the bottom it was very weak with the weight of the Mustang, at higher rpm it was powerful.
I think who doesn't know a Trad Plus 8 can also get into dangerous situations e.g. in the wet. Because with the Plus 8 you don't "hear" the high torque at medium revs. Like I said, you just have to watch what you do.

Any powerful machine will bite you in the arse if not treated with respect.
I would buy a roadster tomorrow if I could get it past management. Spec it the same as your 4/4 Craig and she won't notice.

The Roadster was a popular hire car when I worked at the factory. I don’t recall one being in an accident and a wide variety of people drove them...including women 🙄😉. A few mentioned the Rev hang but most never noticed enough to comment. I’ve driven the factory cars and never had an issue with Rev hang although it was obviously there . My 3.0 was worse and that was the price of a heavy flywheel. In any car there’s always the temptation in a wild moment to give it too much welly, the lack of driving aids can sometimes bite you in the bum no matter how good a driver you think you are. I’m average and don’t mind admitting it.
May be the worry of all that power biting back made me sell Nero and end up with a 15 hp Austin Seven Ulster with barely any brakes. 🙄. I may not go scare myself going fast but by golly I’ll scare myself stopping!

John I'm sure quite a few of us on here would be interested to hear your driving impressions of the Ulster .

Richard I’ll report back once I get back from my break in Thailand. I’ve only driven it once in pouring rain which didn’t really give me much chance to get a feel for it! I joke about the cable brakes but they do work. I won’t be needing abs though! My initial thoughts were that the clutch has a short movement and is in it out, the room for foot on throttle is tight and it felt fun😜 .

John we'll look forward to hearing more after your break, it sounds like it has all the ingredients for a real fun car. The only other one I have seen was at Richard Thornes back in 2004 when I bought my first Plus8 from him, I said that looks fun and he agreed it was he had just bought it from someone in Cornwall who was demonstrating it to him down the lanes at 60 and he said that it felt plenty fast enough. That is the key I think to the fun factor less power in less weight maybe is the winning combination.

I have never driven a Roadster 3.7. But I have a 3.0. My 3.9+8 Bitsa is more powerful. But for a sure thrill of power I drove a Corvette powered +8+ for 4 days. It scared the pants off of Me.
