Audi R8......the illigitimate love child of a three way between the Porsche Turbo, AMV8 and the Nissan 350Z.....lol.... what a F#*king ugly car.

I suspect that cost has little to do with car purchases at this level.... just the fact that it's possibly the most vomit enducing car ever to exist may be a reason that a potential buyer would go for any other car.....and fork out potentially bancrupting levels of expence on repairs (ala Gallardo / Challange Stradale) just so they are not associated with such a looser of a car.

It's a bit like some couture clothes..... funking ugly ... but nobody likes to mention it to the owner/wearer because it's got a label (well ish) and it's damned expensive.

Good luck to any people blind enough to waste their money on this...

Somebody mentioned depreciation............probably be paying the scrappers to relieve you of it after a few years coz nobody wants one.

Andrew, I don't think it is abhorrent; however, it does have far too much Audi TT in the design and not enough iRobot concept car!

I saw the iRobot car at the Netherlands autoshow a few years back and it did look stunning in the metal.

The R8 is very colour sensitive (for instance, I can imagine it looking better in black - to hide those awful looking side vents); however, that is a sign of a poor design. Within reason, a car should look good in almost any colour <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

I's always good to listen to both sides <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> & <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> ... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

With respect to car design, part of the reason I love the Aero so much is because it is different. Despite the obvious brand trade marks - BMW kidney grills, Audi massive front grill, etc - all these cars are becoming far too dull, contrived and samey. It takes a Lamborghini, Ferrari or a Morgan Aero to make you do a double take.

The strange side detailing, not sure what you would call it but the big plastic piece that comes down the side of the car, is what really puts me off. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/sick.gif" alt="" />

I understand they are putting a 4.2 V8 and a 5.2 V10 (from the Gallardo, S8 and S6) in the R8?

It should be fairly quick if nothing else <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/checkeredflag.gif" alt="" />
