Crunchie raised a comment about investing in a classic Trad before they cease production.
Which one would you want to lay down to mature like a fine wine? I say “lay down” but unlike a wine you’d be wanting to taste it a lot!

He is going for a Club Sport....not a surprise....but I’m thinking that if the 4/4 ends up being the last of the traditional models, that’s the one I’d go for. Morgan started its four wheelers with the 4/4...a great one to end production of trads with.

Investing in a Morgan car?

If you got enough money you do not need such investments.
If you don't have enough cash you should avoid risc investments.

Gaining or loosing some £40 k after a reasonable number of years should not change your life while driving a Mog will always provide lots of pleasure.

When I said invest it was more for the enjoyment of a special Morgan rather than making money on it. I’m not a great believer in trying to make money through cars....by the time you’ve paid out over the years for running costs, repairs, upgrades etc you end up out of pocket.....well unless you are lucky enough to have something very special and rare. I’ve always lost money but then that’s the price of enjoyment.

If I had garage space I think a nice early flat rad 4/4 with cycle wings and one of the very last 4/4s....with throttle bodies of course🙄... would be my investment in pleasure.

My friend Ian has bought a tired but well used 4/4 and is planning a nut and bolt rebuild, including a new chassis, bulkhead, etc.

If I was to add a trad it would be a long door 4/4.

For me it would be the Prudence Fawcett 1938 series 1. I understand that the factory produced a couple of replicas. But realistically it would need to be a replica of the replica. If the car has to be new then I would not bother as I'm happy enough with my +8.

I'll just stick with mine. It has an interesting and well-documented history as an enthusiast's Morgan and is pretty well cared-for despite its high mileage. As long as someone has enough, they don't need more.

And when I have enough guitars, I shan't acquire any more. But luthiery is an important craft, and it's so important to keep these traditional skills alive, don't you feel?
