.... Do not attempt it if there's been heavy rain - the two bridges at the bottom of the Staircase flood. Thought I'd be clever once and tackled them in my S3 Land Rover. Hit the first bridge and went about 2ft sideways...... Thanks - I'll definitely wait for a dry spell then!

Over 120 miles today. Stopped at Haverfordwest airfield for brunch. Today, I almost committed aviation in this:
Cessna 152 by Jonathan Jenkins, on Flickr - we managed to taxi out to the runway before deciding the rain and clouds were just too bad. But at least that was my first time "driving" a plane for several years! Hope to get off the ground in the near future...

Faced with cutting the grass, taking the dog out for a walk or heading off in the Morgan for a couple of hours, the Morgan won. Swmbo can take the dog out and the grass will wait until tomorrow. Original plan was to go from home to Ilkley, Bolton Abbey and Burnsall for a cuppa. But when I got to Burnsall it didn’t feel like I’d been out so carried on to Grassington, then Pately Bridge. Quick refuel in Pately as the light came on, then headed back to Blubberhouses through into Otley and then home. 56 miles all told, lots of grins on my part. A cyclist going the other way gave me a thumbs up and a man at Greenhow was washinghis rather nice blue Quattroporte nearly waved his arm off as I went past. Cup of tea now and relive the memories. Happy days!

Finally, at last, I've done it. The Tregaron to Abergwesyn Mountain Road and what a road. Made famous in my mind by being one of the roads that sorted the men from the boys in the Motoring News Rally Championship. Today the mountain was a bit misty and the road quite wet and mucky in places but still spectacular. Not a road to use if you like to wrap up your car in cotton wool. Single track the surface varies between fairly good to quite bumpy in places but no major potholes at least in the middle of the road. One major drawback in a Morgan is that when you go over a brow the bonnet obscures the view so it pays to say a little prayer that nothing is coming the other way or that the road doesn't suddenly turn leaving a rock face or shear drop in front of you Started in LLanfair Caerinion then to Tregaron via Machynlleth and Devils Bridge. A very late breakfast at the River Bank Cafe to build up strength for the Mountain road and then over the top to Abergwesyn and on to Beulah. Back via the Llandrindod Wells to Newtown Road (a superb twistyish A road) 150 miles in all and a very dirty 4/4 to clean. Mog season has arrived.

A lovely run out to Buckfastleigh Abbey for a bite to eat and look around, a bit misty on the way back. I love how this Plus 8 just feels absolutely planted to the road, smiles and waves along the way always feels good to share the fun around.

I’m just jealous of everyone who posted today especially with the beautiful pictures. I was stuck in an office all day. Just means I’m looking forward even more to Saturday and driving across the North York Moors! HB
