Likely to be the Escape engine which is installed in my Nov 2010 Roadster. I think it makes it a series three car. OOps I didn't actually answer your question though did I ? Sorry Steve. The visual difference between the Mondeo engined cars is obvious though. Dave W will be along shortly.

I believe that the air intakes are different. My 2009 Roadster had the Series 3 Escape engine so yours certainly will too.

Our 2011 Roadster also has the 3 litre Escape engine.

The Escape engine is the one without the intake opening on the left side in driving direction which was mounted on the series 1 ST220 engine. The Escape engine was ratet about 204 HP or so until 2010. With the launch of the Roadster Sport and all the following bespoked cars which also got the wider front frame from 2010 on the Escape engine was ratet at 230 HP. I am not sure but I think the exhaust manifold tubes were bigger in diameter and the ECU got a remap. At least this series 3 Roadster 230 HP Escape engine never had the rev hang problem which was existing with some of the 204 HP cars including mine. I had both versions 2008 and 2010 Roadster Sport.

My 2009 model had rev hang. Not a huge problem as long as you expected it but it occasionally niggled. I was never sure if it was just down to a heavy flywheel or that and the ecu although I did have a Williams remap which while increasing the bhp to 225 did not do anything to the issue.

I had got a factory remap for the 2008 Roadster in 2009 for free, the rev hang was gone and the engine was more powerful. Perhaps it was an early version of the 2010 Series S3 mapping.

Note down the engine number there is a resource somewhere (can't remember URL) that will tell you exactly what series of engine you have from the USA plant.
