For the best handling and fuel efficiency, you should adhere to the manufacturer's optimum tyre pressure.

Interesting, but are the recommended pressures correct? I've previously had an Exige approx 1150 kg and an Evora at circa 1350 kg, from memory the Exige ran at 32/34 psi and the Evora 34/36 psi, I had the Aero on the scales a few months back and it was about 1275 kg, so 25 psi feels a bit low by comparison.

Take a tip from the F1 teams - they keep their pressures exact for very good reasons.

So they don't play with pressures to adjust front / rear balance, or take into account track / air temperature etc?

They are given a max/min range and not a single pressure.

They also have accurate real time monitoring of pressure and temperatures and a team of engineers to interpret the data...

I suspect the average Morganeer doesn't.

I am interested in the factory "recommended" pressure. One would think this would be different with the different makes of tyres supplied on Aeros over the years?

The problem here is Morgan quote low pressures, but give no substance as to why and then use multiple tyre brands on the cars to add to the confusion.

Me personally I have stuck to the lower pressures, but in all honestly after speaking to an expert at Michelin I am far more inclined to listen to their advice and run them a bit higher (was quite a lengthy discussion) than Morgan's. From what I recall they said the optimum tyre range for grip was 32-34psi when hot, so cold was around high 20s to 30 depending on the type of usage.

I haven't got the tyres changed yet however, so I cannot play about and see how it feels on the road, but 30psi won't be overinflating.

With regards to F1, they play about with pressures and usually run as low a pressure as possible to aid traction (although the high sidewalls in F1 offer little crossover to road use at this point in time) - due to issues with punctures and tyre delamination they are forced to run the tyres in a specified Pirelli psi window now.

I also got this advice re the MP Cup2 on the back of the Coupe. The Michelin man said 24-26 was too low to make the sidewalls work and it would sag which would mean poor long term performance. He said to go to 28 and then try them above this a bit as well.

I am waiting to get the front suspension sorted so I can then change the fronts and then try the car at a couple of pressures.

Given the Coupe is on 19 AeroMax wheels/tyres there is little sidewall so too high a pressure may mean dentist time and that is NOT high on my list of things to do in life.

Also we are talking about road use on the busy roads down south so I am not looking to set a land speed record.

If you run at higher pressures do your tyres at the end of their life look as though they have worn evenly - ie no bald strip in the middle of the tread? That must surely be the final arbiter of correct pressure.
