If you run at higher pressures do your tyres at the end of their life look as though they have worn evenly - ie no bald strip in the middle of the tread? That must surely be the final arbiter of correct pressure. Good point. The tryes on my Lotus, run at the pressures recommended by Hethel , wore comp-letely evenly acroos the tread. And if anyone knows about handling its Lotus.

I also got this advice re the MP Cup2 on the back of the Coupe. The Michelin man said 24-26 was too low to make the sidewalls work and it would sag which would mean poor long term performance. He said to go to 28 and then try them above this a bit as well.
I am waiting to get the front suspension sorted so I can then change the fronts and then try the car at a couple of pressures.
Given the Coupe is on 19 AeroMax wheels/tyres there is little sidewall so too high a pressure may mean dentist time and that is NOT high on my list of things to do in life.
Also we are talking about road use on the busy roads down south so I am not looking to set a land speed record. I think the sidewall issue is why the steering felt a bit woolly, the increased pressure supports the sidewalls and steering feels much more direct

It would be interesting to hear how the handling is after you have had the front suspension sorted.
I had Suplex fitted to my Roadster and absolutely hated it, although I know a lot of people love it. It was finally fixed by New Elms and the car handles beautifully now.

John, I would suggest that it may not have been correctly set up. To work correctly the Suplex/SSL suspension must be adjusted as per the instructions.

Gareth the Coupe currently has steering that feels heavy, non self centring, treacle. This is because the lower ball joints are worn out (at 32K) and need replacement. If you put the car up so the wheel is floating it rocks visibly with little effort. Hand to top and bottom of wheel, pull top out of arch and in towards engine/rad. Just in case this helps you identify yours.
I agree the increased pressure will reduce contact patch and stiffen sidewall which should reduce load but as outlined it could mean to small a contact patch.
The repair went sideways due to parts etc so I have to wait.

Alistair, I'm sure you'll notice the difference once the work is done, will you fit cups on the front as well?
I'm not sure how much grip has reduced, certainly not noticeable on the sprint course, however, the improved steering precision is night and day different, I've come to the conclusion that Morgan have just got it wrong (or they are trying to improve ride quality by recommending the lower pressure)

...or the tyres that the car was originally set up on had very stiff side walls, which is a possibility I suppose.

Given the road facing bit had the grip of Teflon it would not surprise me if the sidewalls were made of it (being naughty as they were old)
I might well go with Cups on the front to try it out. It's not as if I do a massive mileage and have to deeply worry about the cost. The last set went old before they wore out.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
