I have just moved on to Morgan number 9 since 2006 and 7 of those have had "Sports Recliner" seats or the "Performance" variant of the same, all of which have been blighted with the same problem. Why oh why do Morgan persist in fitting a reclining mechanism which requires you to either get out of the car to operate it or almost dislocate your shoulder trying to overcome the return spring on the recline handle?
While I am on a roll, who was the design genius who decided to move the power socket from the perfectly acceptable location in the glovebox to under the centre of the dash where, if you plug in any accessory, the plug affects your ability to change gear? swear

I must admit, I`ve had no problems operating my sports recliner seats. I do give the mechanism a blast of WD40 or similar every so often.

The power socket at first... Great looking dashboard, out of sight. Not suitable in the real world. Doesn't matter. Cut a hole in the dashboard for your personal fit and fit a power socket (for about 8 EURs).

The seat adjusting... As I'm also in classic MINIs, that's the british thing to do it.
And: my daughter's "high equipeted" VW UP! is the same thing.

But I'm on your side, my wife doesn't enjoy it. If the seat is not her her cup of tea, she can't adjust it to her fit... Stop for a moment and help her.

Don’t tell me you’re starting to miss the seats in Rudolph as I assume they did not recline.
Much as it is unusual for me to agree, the recline system is certainly a pain but on the positive side it is very rarely I have to move it but if I do it usually takes one or two efforts to get it back just right and generally done from outside the car.
Apart from the power socket I hope No9 is shaping up well and ready for the spring outing.

Max5,
I am impressed by the amount of Mogs!

I totally agree about the reclining mechanism. I fight it continuously, it is counter intuitive and difficult to get it right first time. But then again, they all do that...

Max5, beyond seat and cigarette lighter questions, what type of Morgan did you like most about this wide variety of cars?

I found the recliner tricky in the Brooklands I had but, not enough to get to me.

Since then both my Morgan’s do not have reclining seats so not an issue and imo they are more comfortable.

There was a guy who kept fumbling
His wallet gone without grumbling,
Whenever he bought a new Mog,
It seemed to be an old dog,
The seat it would stick
So he sold it too quick.
love
Then off he would trot
Back down to the lot
For a dose of something quite hot.
Not another old dog!
Yes a lovely new Mog.
love
The way he gets in makes me giggle
It does take a while there to wriggle.
In love with this tiny wee box.
