A very interesting watch - with some disturbing footage / dialogue. The question for a petrolhead, is how do you obtain a reduction of your environmental footprint whilst still enjoying driving a real car ?
1. Stop flying to go on holiday (or on business if it can possibly be avoided) 2. Switch to a primarily plant-based diet, eat locally produced meat only, do not eat farmed salmon 3. Switch to a 100% renewable energy tariff for your home 4. Run your central heating for less time at a lower temperature I Use the offset system making sure plenty of vines are planted

MrsW loves rabbit, but I'm not that bothered with it.
We are half green I suppose. We don't fly, we use public transport a lot, we don't eat much meat...…….

MrsW loves rabbit, but I'm not that bothered with it.
We are half green I suppose. We don't fly, we use public transport a lot, we don't eat much meat...……. We're half green, too. We come from Glasgow.

I went about as green as one could get for 20 years by living off the grid and generating my own power with solar and wind. Heated and cooked on wood fired stove, a Waterford Range that I really miss today, and grew my own trees for firewood. Had to buy diesel for the bulldozer and gasoline for the cars/trucks. Used rabbits and pigeons and raccoons for food when they presented themselves, as well as the cattle that were grazed on the neighboring ranch and totally grass fed.
It was a relatively quiet and peaceful life but my health was not getting better and I had to move to where healthcare was available. Hate living in town, way to noisy, and to many people that think they they know what it takes to live green and they have never even tried it.
Green is a lot hard work, and don't let someone convince you that running a car off batteries is going green, the pollution created by battery making and battery disposal is horrendous!

Good on you I take my hat off to you, my son and his girlfriend do this but they are in their mid thirties so no problem at the moment. We haven't flown anywhere for at least 15 years and that won't change I don't think, I do love my Plus8 however and that will be staying. We do try and do what we can, we have never bought a bottle of water in our lives as it is just total madness when the tap offers a better product for us.

I could have gone one step more green and that would have been using draught horses and mules but deemed that over the top since the flies and horse poop management and feeding those beasts was worse than gasoline. I did that from age 26 through age 44, definitely a young persons game and probably why the average age 150 years ago was less than it is today. I have outlived both of my parents ages when they passed and I would attribute that to the level of medical care available today.

An amazing but tough life on the whole really, you did it for a long while was it for environmental reasons I wonder. Interesting that people didn't live as long with the deprivations back in those days I seem to remember reading that 40 was quite old then. We have a lot to be thankful for with all the healthcare available to us in the western world.
