She's either an idiot, or signed up to the elite club who expect to continue as normal while the plebs make sacrifices.

We use little food waste disposal bags which are biodegradable. What do they degrade to? Little bits of plastic?!

And she was eating a beef starter 🙄. I seem to recall she told us we should all be vegan.

Watching programmes like Drain the Ocean, and Empire of the Seas.....I guess we've been polluting oceans ever since the first ship went down...……..

When you think about all the nasties in coal fired ships, and the WW2 merchant ships, it's a miracle that the sea has managed as well as it has. Plastic is just the latest disaster.

Once steam ships replaced sail, pollution wise it was a slippery slope, and all driven by greed. I don't think much has changed since the start of the industrial revolution.

So tomorrow climate protestors are planning to disrupt flights into Heathrow
Planes planning to land at Heathrow have been told to carry extra fuel in case they have to divert or circle
Carrying the extra fuel means the negative environmental footprint of the planes will increase, further damaging the environment directly due to the protest that is designed to reduce pollution.

The polymer used in these bags is cellulose, so the bags will be enzymatically digested by bacteria in landfill sites (bacteria use cellulase - a hydrolytic enzyme) into smaller units of two glucoses, and some bacteria turn these into single glucose. The bacteria then convert the sugars, via aerobic respiration, into carbon dioxide and water. So the end product of the bag, given time, is carbon dioxide (returned to the atmosphere to replace the CO2 that was originally fixed into the cellulose by photosynthesis) plus water.
